Humoresque
Original Oil Painting 16" x 16"
The self-portrait Humoresque was created for a themed portrait exhibition, which reflected attitudes toward ageing, by selected women artists.
Humor seems essential to me in the ageing process and I chose that point of view to express. I collect Jesters and hats because of recurring dreams wherein I am the Jester. It was the perfect prop for this painting. The complementary colors, angular shapes, and asymmetric balance all contribute to the feeling of mirth.
I love painting portraits and welcome commissions. Portraits become family heirlooms, works of art that link generations. They express a person's identity as well as their appearance. The best portraits can reveal emotions, interests, aspirations, habits and style. Group portraits can commemorate a special event or tell a story.
Please email or call me to discuss your portrait ideas. I look forward to working with you.
