Boston Art~ Nautical Treasures
I love to paint the interior world of glass reflection, and the floats in Nautical Treasures offered the opportunity. The bottle’s map provided pattern and a nice segué into the exterior world where the sextant hangs, a gargoyle-like guardian.
The capacity of each object to direct the eye fosters a rocking compositional movement, echoing ocean rhythms. The fabric’s medallion design rhymes with the sextant and its color offers a warm balance to the cool notes in the painting. Embodying colors of sand, sea, and sky, Nautical Treasures is a soothing painting that extends a moment of contemplation.
