How I long to be in a sunny garden again. I can feel myself surrounded with color and birdsong. I love the warmth penetrating my bones and the scent of the rich soil as I knead it. Flowers show their appreciation. They smile.
Lilies and Hydrangeas is part of a series of small paintings begun last summer. The painting conveys an experience of being cuddled by a swell of flora illuminated by dappling morning light.
As I look out at the falling snow, the winter seems less harsh. I’ve balanced the grey winter with a vision of summer to come.
