Let there be Music, let there be Light!
December’s dark stillness compels me to seek movement and light. The dancing flame and flickering reflections in Con Spirito satisfies my urge. I awaken to a mysterious animating force, and darkness is overcome by light.
Con Spirito is a tribute to the creative spirit that dwells within us. The illuminated candle symbolizes inspiration; the warmth and luster of the musical instruments amplifies the glow. The pattern of light and dark shapes structure a buoyant rhythm, providing a sense of animation to the whole. Imaginary melodies emerge in the background and swirl in the ambiance of color and light.
The expression of delight through Art, Music and Imagination was the artistic intention of the painting. I hope that it will brighten moods and energize spirits during these dark days of winter.

Boston Artist, Melody Phaneuf is well known for her evocative still life, landscape, and portrait paintings. Her paintings are regularly on view at The Guild of Boston Artists, 162 Newbury Street; at Fenway Studios, Boston by appointment; and North Shore Art in Gloucester from May through October. Phaneuf ‘s paintings have been exhibited at The National Arts Club in New York City, Galerie Herouet in Paris, and with Art du Monde, in Japan.
