Small Paintings~ A Big Treat

Uphill by Melody Phaneuf, 10 x 8 oil painting
~
The fall exhibition of small paintings begins next week at Northshore Arts in Gloucester and continues through October. Small Paintings are a special treat. The favorable price and limited space small paintings require for display offer an occasion to own an original work of art.
Landscape paintings translate especially well to a petite format. Once the painting is entered, one’s sense of size diminishes while experiencing the relative parts of the composition. It’s as if one shrinks to inhabit the space.
Uphill gives the sense of climbing among the granite boulders found near the hilly coast of Gloucester. Trees twist and turn to continue their urge toward the sun. The upward expression is unaffected by the painting’s 10 x 8 inch boundaries.
There are certain to be a number of small coastal landscapes of Cape Ann in the exhibit. If you have been postponing the satisfaction and pleasure of acquiring original art, this upcoming exhibit is a colossal opportunity.
